Type Default Value Read Only Static Description
Int32 32 No No The bit depth of the exported image.
Notes

Some images can be exported in a color depth different from that of the Canvas. This parameter allows you to override the default color depth - that of the Canvas.

During the export process the image will undergo color reduction using the current Palette. The depth limits the number of colors that can be used.

  • 1 bit - 2 colors (monochrome or black-and-white).
  • 2 bit - 4 colors.
  • 3 bit - 8 colors (not supported in all file formats).
  • 4 bit - 16 colors.
  • 5 bit - 32 colors (not supported in all file formats).
  • 6 bit - 64 colors (not supported in all file formats).
  • 7 bit - 128 colors (not supported in all file formats).
  • 8 bit - 256 colors.

The depth is a hint rather than a command. Depending on the way that color reduction is performed it may result in a different number of colors in the final image.

ImageGlue supports BMP export at 1, 4, 8 and 32 bit depths.

Please note that although GIF supports a very wide range of depths, many other formats support a more limited range. See Palette for further details.
